The US has reported 983,457 confirmed cases, with 50,492 deaths to the UN health agency, making it the hardest hit country. In Spain and Italy, the second and third worst-hit countries in terms of the number of infections, there have been 210,773 and 201,505 cases respectively. The death numbers in the two countries are 23,822 and 27,359 respectively.

Covid-19 cases climb to 122 in Odisha with 4 new patients
Four persons, including a woman, tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 122 in the state, officials said. A 77-year-old man from Bhubaneswar is among those infected. This is the first Covid case in the capital city after a gap of 14 days. The previous confirmed case was reported here on April 14.
The total number of persons infected with the deadly virus in Bhubaneswar now stands at 47. Of them, 20 are undergoing treatment and 26 have recovered. A man had died on April 6.
Of the 122 COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha, 47 are from Bhubaneswar, 19 each from Bhadrak and Jajpur, 16 from Balasore, 10 from Sundergarh, two each from Kendrapara and Kalahandi, and one each from Cuttack, Puri, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Deogarh and Keonjhar districts.

Migrant workers, tourists, students and other people stranded in different parts of the country were on Wednesday allowed to move to their respective destinations with certain conditions, giving a big relief to the distressed people.
In an order, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said buses shall be used for transport of such groups of stranded people and these vehicles will be sanitised and will have to follow safe social distancing norms in seating.

Geneva: The World Health Organisation (WHO) will convene an emergency meeting on coronavirus on Thursday, said its Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday.
"I will convene the emergency tomorrow because it is almost three months since we declared the highest emergency and that was what was suggested by the emergency committee -- to reconvene three months after the declaration to evaluate the evolution of the pandemic and advise on updated recommendations," Tedros said in the virtual briefing on COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, Michael Ryan said that he hopes that the much talked about drug -- remdesevir -- and other drugs prove helpful in COVID-19 treatment.
